At 21, being married is hard,
like always in your face,
"you're not a child,
but you're certainly acting like one",
I love you, but I kind of dislike you right now,
arguing before the sun comes up,
hard.
And I'm not saying every day is hard,
or that it'll become easier as we get older,
because marriage as a whole? It's hard work,
even after you learn how to communicate with each other,
because one of you will see something differently,
always,
but the best part is when you both take a second to be silent,
think about how to form your words a bit more carefully,
realize you're both adults, and realize
you can solve problems with a whisper,
you can find the patience to listen to the other person,
you can balance what you ask of each other
with what you ask of yourself,
and you can find the love behind every argument,
even when you can barely open your eyes wide enough
to see that the person is arguing because
they love you enough to fight with all their heart.

his little honeysuckle.
After deciding I didn't want to hang around
reading blogs all day yesterday, I spent a small chunk of time
on a mattress in the living room, watching The Office
with my favorite husband who keeps calling me
his little honeysuckle.
By noon, we were up and ready to go,
since I had promised my sister-in-laws
a chunk of my day off.
My husband, being the awesome
"paying for parking is stupid" husband that he is,
dropped the three of us at the
craft fair in East Lansing. Surprisingly, we all
managed to go without spending a single penny
(except on the necessary amount of Qdoba
due to being in or around the Qdoba area)
It was inspiring to see all the booths set up,
and all the random things people made to sell.
Originally, I wanted to try and get a booth,
but I'm thinking I will next year.
Afterward, we all headed to my mother-in-law's
for wedding chicken and french fries.
(However, I only had a handful of french fries.
Hooray vegetarianism!)
And then, we went down
to the little ice cream parlor in town.
It was perfect, seeing as it was
a real. summer. day. yesterday.
By the end of the night, I was exhausted,
a bit sunburnt, and mostly ready to return to laying
on a mattress in our living room, watching The Office
with my favorite husband who keeps calling me
his little honeysuckle.
The Sundays I have off work are usually my favorite.

housesitting
I feel so much more married
while housesitting, because
instead of a tiny one-bedroom
apartment, one cat, one car to share,
we're responsible for the house
(which is a four bedroom!), two
cars, so we don't have to share,
two televisions with (GASP!)
cable, three full-sized dogs,
and the two girls. It's like our
future, except I hope when
our future happens, we can
find the band-aids without a
twenty minute search for them.
But I love it. And while
I can't wait for the future,
I do kind of love the present,
a lot. Life is being good to me.

Love & Marriage - 3 Months
Tomorrow, we will be married for three months, and to be honest,
some days I don't tell my husband how much I appreciate him.
I don't thank him for everything he does for our life together.
There are things about him I treat as flaws,
that are really just different from my self,
and don't hurt one bit, but that
I make too big a deal out of.
But as a whole, and when it comes down to it, to what really matters,
and what I need/want/have, I am in love with my husband.
I love our little family - just us and the kitty cat.
I love our attempts to cook now that we're "independent",
and that he eats anything I make, even when it's
nasty.
I love impromptu dates we go on,
because spontaneity is a tough thing for me,
since I'm such a PLANNER.
I love nights in (which are abundant since we're homebodies!)
where we just sit on the couch and watch episodes of our favorite shows.
Our life can be tough and dull sometimes, and way less bizarre
than I imagined my life at 21, but
it's better in so many ways, and I'm thankful for that.
I'm thankful for my husband,
and his love for me.
And I hope he feels how much I love him, every day.
