Confidence & Running

Recently, I got the chance to meet a very amazing lady named Janna Lynn (who blogs over at Shewearscrazywell). It was a heck of a lot of fun, especially since she didn't turn out to be a serial killer (which is always something you risk when you meet up with people from the internet, according to my mother, even though her and I both married men we met online!)

Anyways, my sister-in-law and I met up with Janna at a local coffee chain (read: Biggby's) and enjoyed about two and a half hours worth of ridiculous story-sharing and caffeine-induced giggles. I'll admit I'm always super nervous when I meet people for the first time, but thankfully, I'm a super honest person and will totally tell the "stranger" so right off the bat! And somewhere along the way, our conversation turned to outfit posts (which I don't currently participate in posting, but maybe someday...)

I think the most important part of the conversation, was when Janna told me that I should do outfit posts, even if I don't think I've got much to share, or look very good, because it's fun, and it honestly doesn't matter whether anyone loves your outfit or not, or that your breaking out like a teenager who just hit puberty. Do it for yourself, the outfits, the pictures, the blogging, all of it.

And up until now, I've been lacking in the confidence arena due to sharing the blogosphere with such pretty ladies as Gussy & Laura. Honestly! Either way, I want to be the most honest and confident version of myself I can be here on my blog, so here is my new favorite picture of myself, in all my beet-faced, hair-pocalypse glory.

Why? Let me explain.

I know I don't talk about running a lot on here (and why would I, I hadn't run since September until today) but this year one of my resolutions is to run three 5Ks as well as a 10K (at the end of June!) and today really kicked off my enthusiasm for all four events! After not running for FIVE MONTHS, I ran three consecutive miles. Three! I would have been surprised if I made it one full mile, to be honest.

So, I think I'm going to start talking about running some more here on the blog. Because there is only one (non-love related) feeling more amazing than running, and that's the feeling of accomplishment, that feeling you get when you take that final step at running speed, and slam on your brakes, knowing you just beat your personal best. It's bliss.

    1. Thank you. I'm definitely feeling the five month separation from running in my thighs. Ouch!

But they won't be sore tomorrow, so I can run again!
